PowerPoint 2010 includes a function called Presenter view. With Presenter view, you can set your computer to display your presentation with notes on one screen but not on the other, if you have two monitors set up. For example, you can display the presentation and notes on your laptop, while displaying an ordinary presentation on the other screen, e.g. an overhead projector.

This is what you do:

1. Click on Slide Show.

2. Select Use Presenter View.

3. Click on the arrow next to Show Presentation On and use to select the screen on which you want your presentation to be displayed as a regular presentation.

You have now set Presenter view, and in this example your presentation will appear as usual on "Monitor 2 Plug and Play screen", but your notes will appear on your own screen.
